2nd Grade Students at Barberville
Preceding our annual Colonial Day at school, second graders stepped back in time on their field trip to the Pioneer Village in Barberville. All that they had been learning in class came to life as they experienced first-hand the different trades and life of the early American settlers. Real tradespeople dressed in typical attire of the period showed them how to spin, weave, make candles and butter. They visited an actual blacksmith and woodworking shop and got to feed the animals on the farm. They definitely gained a deeper understanding of the life of a Colonial child and how much easier their lives are in comparison!
