Field Trip to the Moon
TMA's 6th grade science classes have been on quite an adventure! The students took an in class "Field Trip to the Moon." Students learned about the Apollo missions through a hands-on approach. They made star finders, launched a rocket, performed an experiment in a glove box, designed a lunar lander, created lunar craters, and journaled their way through the adventure. Through the process they learned the difficulties of designing space adventure with the goal of keeping their "astronauts" alive! They also had the opportunity to observe and handle real space food used by the astronauts who live on the ISS.
