Camp Sparta’s 2016 summer camp was a great success!

In June, more than sixty 3rd – 6th graders traveled to Sebring, FL to participate in a fun-filled week of camp. Friendships were made and hearts were changed as the campers participated in daily praise and worship, group devotions, and PLENTY of fun.

The theme for the week was "The Sweet Life."

"Most often our ideas of what the 'good life' is doesn't include God," said Ryan Johnson, TMA's Director of Christian Life Impact. "We talked about how trusting Christ leads to a truly sweet life. It was cool to see younger students looking beneath the surface of behavior modification to search their hearts and transform their beliefs with the gospel!"

Campers really enjoyed the small group time for an opportunity to learn more about the Bible and share their hearts.

In total, 16 campers accepted Christ and 8 campers redirected their lives to Christ while at this year's summer camp. Praise the Lord!

“Nothing can compare to the friendships I’ve made here,” said camp counselor Manny Rodriguez (TMA Class of 2016). “Witnessing lives being changed because of Mr. (Ryan) Johnson, the counselors, the helpers, and most of all, God, was so inspiring. Moments like this week will never be forgotten.”

Gathered around a bon fire on the final day of camp, Johnson said he loved getting the opportunity to talk with many of the students who were completely overwhelmed by Jesus’ love for them.

The TMA high school students and alumni who served as camp counselors for the week were also inspired by God's work.

"It was really impactful for the TMA students that were working," said Mia Lowe, TMA staff member. "They're tired and it's a hard week of work, but these kids are asking them really big questions and the counselors are getting to pour into them and share the love of Jesus with them. For those students that are a part of Camp Sparta, I think it really is one of their greatest memories of being a TMA student."

We are so thankful to have been a part of impacting campers lives for Christ – to God be the glory!
